Tool Roll #2
A tool roll with one row of pockets. The pockets are covered with a flap, so tools are less likely to fall out than tool roll #1. This version is unlined and intended for a fabric like X-Pac where the tools can rest directly against the wrong side of the fabric.
| All seam allowances are 1⁄2", unless otherwise indicated. |

Sewing Instructions
Prepare the Closure Flap
-
Thread a 6" length of gutted paracord through the cord lock.
-
Place one of the closure flap panels right side up.
-
With the cord lock centered on the paracord, place it on the flap panel so that ends of the paracord point outward. Center the paracord loop on one of the long edges.
-
Place the other flap panel on top, right side down.
-
Sew around three edges, leaving a long edge open.
-
Reinforce the ends of the paracord loop with zigzag stitches in the seam allowance.
-
Trim the corners.
-
Turn the flap right side out.
-
Topstitch at 1⁄4" along the three seams.
-
Sew the nylon webbing to the flap with box stitches.
Prepare the Pockets
-
Sew a 1⁄2" rolled hem on the long edge of the main panel. This will be the edge that’s folded up to form the pockets.
-
Cut the Velcro tape into 2" strips, leaving one 4" strip.
-
Sew the loop side of the Velcro tape to the pockets, aligned vertically. The top of the Velcro strip should be 1⁄4" from the top of the hemmed pocket edge.
-
Fold the pocket section up 5", then sew the pocket dividers. There should two 4" pockets, two 3" pockets, and two 2" pockets from left to right.
-
Sew bartacks at the top of the pocket dividers for reinforcement.
Sew the Flap to the Main Body
-
Place the main panel with the pocket side facing down.
-
Place two long lengths of gutted paracord perpendicular to the open edge of the first 4" pocket.
-
Place the flap on the main panel with the open edge aligned with the open edge of the first 4" pocket, handle side down.
-
Reinforce the paracord with zigzag stitches in the seam allowance.
-
Sew grosgrain ribbon to attach the pieces and to bind the raw edges of the main panel.
